National Day 2006

I know this is kind of outdated. Just wanted to share the photos I took when I went for my 1st National Day celebrations at the National Stadium. Pity this year was the last year it's going to be celebrated there.

Rented the Nikon AFS 70-200mm f/2.8 IF-ED VR and the Teleconverter TC-17E II from a user in Clubsnap (agape01). This lens ROCKS !!! Wished I could afford this lens. But I'm contented with my Nikon AFS 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX.

Was there early with my daughter to soak up the pre-event activities. There were dances by schools, jugglers on stilts, balloon making, magicians, etc etc.

After awhile, we proceeded to enter the stadium. Wow ! Was it crowded. Reminded me of the last time I went to watch a soccer match during the good old Malaysian Cup Days. The last match I watched was Singapore vs Pahang which we won !! Pity we're no longer participating.

Once we got a seat, we were greeted by waves of Red and White. Many people were throwing goodies everywhere.

As usual, Gurmit and Jamie (i think) were warming up the crowds with repetitive shouting of (haha, cannot remember oredi). But I remembered is was always the same phrase.

We were in there for about half an hour before we spotted something in the air !!!! Yes !! It was the Red Lions showing off their precision landing jumps !! Must have taken hours and hours and hours of training.

After the parade was formed up, we all sat there waiting for the VIPs, VVIPs and the VVVVIPs to arrive. Our dear MM Lee almost missed a step coming down to his seat. But luckily, someone was around to give him a hand.
Next up, was the performance by our superstar, Wei Lian. Boy, was he high up in the platform. If it was me, don't think I can concentrate on the singing.

Then it was time to sing the National Anthem. The State Flag was carried by the Chinook helicopter, and escorted by 2 Apache Longbow attack helicopters.

It was then Gong Shi Jia's turn to perform. She sang the theme song for this year's National Day. The performers were trying to create waves below.

Alan Tam Concert 2007

Went to catch Alan at the Max Pavillion on 28 Apr. Once I walked in, did not get the feeling of attending a concert. More like attending a talk or seminar. Still prefer the Indoor Stadium.

Anyway, it was almost 5 years since he last staged a solo concert here. The last time, he came with Hacken Lee in the 左麟右李 concert. Didn't go for that as I wasn't in Singapore.

Here are some of the pics which I took. Lucky I was using my 17-55mm f2.8. Just that it did not have the reach to go closer.

The Opening.

Alan had to resort to changing some of his jackets on stage. His ear was flooded with perspiration and he couldn't hear from his ear phone properly.

Alan showed some of his dance moves. Ok lah, maybe cannot be compared to Michael Jackson. But at least he made some improvements. And it was reported that he lost more than 10kg practising his dancing.
He also sang a medley of the song which he composed. He asked the audience if we liked the style of his compositions. Still need to ask one meh?
During the encore, everyone started standing on our chairs to shout for him to come out. In the end, I felt that this was the best part of the concert as everyone was standing on our chairs and singing for the last half an hour.
Great Concert !!!
ps: there are plans to bring in the Wynners too. Stay tuned !!!!

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Decided to start this blog to share my photos with everyone. And if you're also into photography, do join in and give me some of your tips and comments !!

I like to take landscapes. But sometimes, need to bring along tripods and stuff, can be quite tiring. So I usually like to take candid photos of people, especially kids. They're so full of life !!! And sometimes, their expressions or actions can be so unpredictable !!!

I'm just posting a few of my favourite photos for a start. Do give me your comments !!! Thanks !!!

This is my son, Justin. Was trying very hard to feed him his breakfast. And he started making those funny faces. Quickly took out my camera and managed to capture this expression.

The girl riding the tricycle is my daughter Jaslynn. Was trying to capture the panning effect but they were zooming past me at 'formula 1' speeds that I had great difficulty trying to focus properly.

This one was taken when I was in Shen Zhen. The old uncle you see repairs pots. This is a lost art as during the olden times, people were poor and they do not usually buy new pots and pans when it is broken. So they'll get someone to repair it. This uncle is actually only one of the few left in the world who still has the 'lost art'.

The man at work.

The finished product. Can you spot the repair?
